Innovative Classroom Tutors (ICT) "Gamers For Tutoring" (A Project - Based Learning of Palo National High School)

The Palo National High School started the opening of classes last June 6, 2011 for this school year 2011 – 2012. The outstanding school principal from the DepEd Division of Leyte, Mr. Michael A. Regis, becomes the new administrator of the school. The Global Filipino Teachers headed by the ICT Coordinator, Mr. Ernani S. Fernandez, made a letter last June 22, 2011 to inform the new administrator regarding the Project – Based Learning (PBL) of the Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) which was prepared during the Global Filipino Teacher’s Training. The dry run of the PBL was conducted last school year to check the possible revisions. The submitted letter to the principal specifies the implementation of the PBL for this school year. After the approval, it was announced to the fourth year students that the school has a project which will cater tutorials with the skill of the identified student-gamers who will be trained as Innovative Classroom Tutors (ICT). In that case, the GFTs searched for the students who are fun of playing PC games. As stated in the project, these students have the abilities and potentials to tutor their peers. They can make use of their skills to conduct tutoring since ICT will be integrated in the tutorials. To make sure if these students are performing well in their academics despite of being student-gamers, a classroom observation and interviewed were conducted for screening.

The following students are the identified student-gamers and can be considered as Innovative Classroom Tutors:
