Upgrading skills and improving lives is the
running banner of the Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the
Philippines (STEP) in the previous skills development and competition.
For this school year 2012 - 2013, the Technology
and Livelihood Education (TLE) Program is focusing on the career pathways. Students must learn how to cope with the
needs of the community and engage in entrepreneurship by using the skills
acquired in the 4 Areas of TLE.
With this, the TLE Department planned to have
a “livelihood project - product making” to the students that will give them the
idea on how to start a small business and use the skill to earn in their young
age.
Under Industrial Arts, Mr. Melchor Marin will
lead the “Hand Soap and Dish Washing Soap – Product Making”. The TLE Teachers will be trained on how to do
the products and it will be offered to the students.
Aside from the products mentioned, sandal
making will be included and the department will invite an entrepreneur who will
present on a demonstration method on the
sandals will be made.
This young entrepreneur, was a former student
of Mr. Ernani S. Fernandez, who gained knowledge and skills on how to make a
sandal from a simple project in school and now owns his small shop – sandal
making business.
This can be an inspiration to the students,
to learn the knowledge and skills and perhaps be the next young entrepreneur in
town.
